Diabetic Retinopathy Screening Program

Ongoing Initiative:

The Caribbean Council for the Blind, with support from the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust, has launched a program in Saint Lucia to reduce diabetes-related blindness. This initiative includes prevention, screening, referral, and treatment for diabetic retinopathy. Saint Lucia is one of six Caribbean countries participating in this critical health program, which aims to address one of the leading causes of blindness in the region.
