The St. Lucia Blind Welfare Association was the larges beneficiary of funds raised by the Prime Minister's Independence Charity Ball. At the prize giving ceremony on Thursday 15th June the Prime Minister said SLBWA was selected because of the invaluable work and service being done by this institution over the years which impacts not just individuals but the entire country. He through out a challenge to the audience to take the "blind test," by remaining blind folded for a week while engaging in daily tasks. The SLBWA received a cheque of $30,067.24 while the St. Lucia School of Ballet and Holy Family Children Family Home received $15,000 each. Debora Pamphile-McLean, Admin and Projects Officer with the SLBWA expressed the associations immense gratitude for being selected and vowed that the funds would be put to maximum use to the benefit of clients and citizens of St. Lucia
